Foetal and neonatal outcomes in an era of active management of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy

Background: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is one kind hepatic disorder which unique to pregnancy. It associated with many adverse outcomes if not intervened at the right time. requires adequate clinical and biochemical correlation during management. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital among 1397 patients who underwent delivery period from 01 July 2021 30 Jun 2022. Among population, those suspected be having IHCP were subjected laboratory tests confirmed cases further analysed for incidence form several maternal fetal factors by appropriate statistical test using IBM SPSS version 20.0 Results: During total out 174 showed signs suggestive IHCP. On subjecting these testing 53 diagnosed The 3.7% 28.30% (16/53) primigravida. There 22.64% (12/53) IVF pregnancies, 11.3% (6/53) twin pregnancies. Total (15/53) presented preterm labour. Of total, there 7.5% (4 /53) meconium-stained liquor. 54.71% (29/53) normal vaginal delivery, forceps VBAC 45.28% (24/53) LSCS this 70.8% (17/24) emergency caesarean 29.2% (7/24) elective deliveries, 75% (18/24) primary delivery. 25.4% (15/59) NICU admissions new born 28.8% (17/59) low birth weight babies. neonates seen have APGAR score less than 7 5 minute no stillbirth noted case Conclusions: causes significant neonatal morbidity major contributor liquor admission.
